The experiences of trans and non-binary people when attending cervical screening have largely been underrepresented. We know that there are multiple failures in the system that can negatively affect your experience, but how to get this knowledge out into the public?
To address this, our trustee Dr Alison Berner has published an article in the British Journal of General Practice (BJGP) where she interviewed trans men and non-binary people about their experiences and attitudes towards cervical screening.
In Alison’s own words:
“There’s more we can do to try to work with the LGBTQ+ population to identify why some of these inequalities are occurring and level the playing field, doing that in a way that’s acceptable to trans and non-binary people, not putting something upon them.” - Dr. Alison Berner
